welcome to our web page. Who is Cantor Zev Brooks? Curious
minds want to know! I have been serving the congregation of Temple Beth
Emet since 1994. I feel very at home at Temple Beth Emet. In fact,
I was bar mitzvah at Temple Beth Emet when my own father served the congregation
as Rabbi. As a matter of fact, I auditioned for the pulpit at Temple
Beth Emet on the 13 year anniversary of my original bar mitzvah.
I am a great believer in congregational singing, and I consider my function
on the bima first and foremost to engage the congregation in expressing
themselves with their own voices as opposed to listening to mine.
My cantorial style emphasizes the meaning and passion of the prayer through
vocal dynamics and lyrical melody as opposed to operatic motifs.
Temple Beth Emet has a choral tradition which goes back over thirty years.
Our choir director, Mark Feiner, has been a member of our choir for over
